JTs General Store Bulletin Board for Jewel Tea, Autumn Leaf and the Alton Area

Every general store has to have a bulletin board, if not most of a wall, with postings for lost pets, offers for help mowin' your grass or fixin' your car, the latest school fund-raiser, a few recipes and anything else that anyone who visits the store would like to put up. This is our bulletin board. There are those coming here by way of local interest and there are those coming here from all over the world through their interest in Jewel Tea.

I'll post everything I receive that is in good taste. No personal ads. No personal attacks. Send your note to

I have been searching for a "Debbie Dunbar" doll, I saw her in a Jewel Tea Catalog when I was a little girl and had to have her. Unfortunately there was no money, many siblings etc., however I am still interested in locating this fashion doll with knees that actually could bend!

I am looking for a print that was given away at Jewel Tea. This particular print is of three girls (I think), and one boy, holding hands around a tree. My mother in law has one, and several of her daughters have found copies, but so far I haven't located one.

Would anyone have one or know where to direct me?

Thanks,
Linda

My question is just a general interest question concerning the home delivery Jewel Tea man, that in my city, was referred to as the Omar man. This was not his name which was, I believe, Emil Ruffolo. (this was back in the late 1940's & 1950's) As I remember it, his truck was of a deep brown color (sort of like the coffee which he sold) & I believe it had the word Omar or Omar's on it. Does anyone know why it was called by that name? Many of his customers did not even realize the association with the Jewel Tea company. Thank you for any input you might have.

I have a 9 cup Rayed Coffee Pot with an aluminum drip. It does not have the 'leaf' design on the sides as shown in most of the lit. This unit has a 'Shield' that looks familiar but I cannot connect it to a mfr. It fits the pot and lid perfectly. Can someone help me identify it - Is it original to the pot (assuming not) or done by a completely different mfr and it is coincidental that it fits.

Thanks

Jewel Tea dishes (autumn leaf pattern). A correction to my posting on Aug. 17.... I do have the lid to the Aladdian Tea Pot. All pieces are in excellent condition... never used... my parents collected them several years back, and now they are both deceased...and I would like to sell them. The one piece (cookie plate... that is supposed to have a stem/handle in the middle) the handle is missing. Other than that... all other pieces are intact and in excellent condition. I have no idea, however, how much everything is worth. Any help would sure be appreciated.

Thanks for your help.

I am trying to find out how much a collection of Jewel Tea (Autumn Leaf pattern) dishes are worth... my parents collected them several years ago and now they are both deceased and I have inherited them. I have a total of 73 pieces (not sure if that counts lids or not) that I would like to sell. (6 place settings + serving and other pieces). All pieces are in excellent shape... (I may be missing the lid to the Aladian Tea pot, however...)

I have acquired a picture, if you will, that I am told is a Jewel Tea collectible but I can find no information about such an item from Jewel Tea. It is a 11x14 framed picture of a a bird - the bird is made of real feathers and it is mounted on paper that has branches painted on it. It came from Nebraska and it is dated 1946 (on the back).

Anyone know of or have any information about such an item from Jewel Tea ? Any assistance is appreciated.

Thank you

We have an 8 piece set of Autumn Leaf Jewel Tea dishes. They are in excellent condition. They are approximately 60 years old. They have been used, but are still in the box with their original dividers etc. We also have the three piece mixing bowel set. We want to sell them as they are my Mom's and she is moving from her home into a smaller place and cannot keep all of her things. So she would really like to sell the dishes. The money would also assist her in her move.

I just received a cookie jar from my 90 year old grandmother. She told me it was given to her by my great, great grandmother and that she got it from the "Jewel Tea man". It is spherical, has a white background and orange flowers in an arch in the center on one side. It also has small, flat, horizontal handles near the lid. It is clearly not the autumn leaf pattern. It has no printing on it of any kind to give me any clues. I am curious to know the name of the pattern and the age of this interesting heirloom. Can anyone help me?

I have an Autumn Leaf Sailcloth Tablecloth measuring 56" x 65". This sailcloth tablecloth is like new! The fabric is in perfect condition, the print/design is as vibrant as brand new. There is only one stain on the entire cloth--smaller than a half dollar--I'm currently treating the stain with Oxiclean. The tag on the tablecloth says on one side, "STARTEX on the top line, the next line is a picture of a mill surrounded by trees, the last line says STARFIELD". On the reverse side of the tag are the words, " BY THE MAKERS OF FAMOUS STARTEX HOUSEHOLD TEXTILES".

Is anyone interested in purchasing this tablecloth?

Thank you.

I have a Jewel Tea, autumn leaf, 3-piece mixing bowl set that I've used for about 25 years, and that was my mother's before. The middle bowl has a chip on the rim now -- about 3/4 inch wide and 1/4 inch long. I would like to continue to use this bowl, so I'm wondering if there's a way to repair it, or even to smooth it out to make it useable. I would appreciate any information anyone can give me.

Please e-mail me at cjbonner@yahoo.com . Thanks.

I have been looking for a Jewel Tea Autumn Leaf Cake Safe since 1978. My grandmother had one for years and it disappeared when she died. I have only seen one since and it is not the one I remember as a child. The one she had was the autumn leaf pattern around the sides and the base (cake tray) and top of the lid were red. I have been told that this was an award gift. Does anyone have any information? My email is generaljuju@hotmail.com.

I got this at a toy fair some time ago.
SEE 12 PHOTOs.
Was this a promotion for JT's?
When was it first issued?
Was it sold or a give-a-way?
The box indicates it commemorates 1899-1982.Why is this special?
It was made in Hong Kong, probably by the old firm of Yat Ming.
The models have gold "Made in Hong Kong" stickers at the bottom.

Any help you can give me on these is appreciated.
Thanks,Tad Pogwizd.
